Harvey T. Strosberg, Q.C., Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Class Action Review, and Irwin Law Inc. are pleased to announce the seventh annual Harvey T. Strosberg Essay Prize competition. The prize of $10,000 is awarded to an outstanding student paper on Canadian class actions.

The competition is open to all Canadian students enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or professional program. The deadline for submissions is 1 March 2010.

2009 Harvey T. Strosberg Essay Prize Winner Announced

Harvey T. Strosberg, Q.C. and Irwin Law Inc. are very pleased to announce that this year’s winner of the Harvey T. Strosberg Essay Prize for the best student essay on class actions is Michael Rosenberg.

Mr. Rosenberg is a 2009 J.D. candidate at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law. Mr. Rosenberg’s paper, “Waiving Goodbye: The Rise and Imminent Fall of Waiver of Tort in Class Proceedings” will appear in Volume 6, Issue 1 of the Canadian Class Action Review. Mr. Rosenberg will also receive a prize of $10,000.

2008 Harvey T. Strosberg Essay Prize Winner Announced

Harvey T. Strosberg, Q.C. and Irwin Law Inc. are please to announce that the winner of the 2008 Harvey T. Strosberg Essay Prize for the best student essay on Class Actions in Canada is James Zaitsoff.

Mr. Zaitsoff recently completed his third year at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law. His prize-winning paper, “Two Steps Forward, No Looking Back: Confronting the Problem of the Indeterminate Plaintiff” will appear in Volume 5, Issue 2 of the Canadian Class Action Review. He will also receive a prize of $10, 000.
