Quia timet relief

Relief, typically an injunction, sought where the commission of a wrong is anticipated. Quia timet literally means "because he or she fears"; so a quia timet injunction is granted when a claimant reasonably fears it will be injured by the imminent commission of a wrong.

Literally means, "because he fears." It refers to an action for either an injunction or damages prior to the plaintiff having suffered any actual loss but because such harm is threatened.
