Ross formerly taught at the University of NSW and at numerous overseas universities ie UCLA, Boston College, Warick University, Makerere University (Uganda) Papua/New Guinea, Auckland University.
Adviser to Attorney-General Uganda, Law Reform Commission, PNG; Member of the Professional Conduct Committee of the NSW Bar Association; Barrister and Member of the California Bar; author or co-author of 16 books, primarily on legal ethics, but also on politics, jokes, and income tax.
Ross wrote columns for legal affairs section of the Australian Financial Review 1999-2003; the Law Institute Journal of Victoria 1997-1999; the Australian Lawyer for 1996-1997 and The Australian 2004-2008. He contributed chapters to Lawyers in your Living Room! Law on Television - M Asimow, Editor. He retired in November 1999 but still teaches part-time and gives legal ethics advice as a barrister.
