Tenants’ Union of NSW

The Tenants’ Union of NSW is the State’s peak non-government organisation for people who live in rental housing.

Founded in 1976, the Tenants’ Union works to reform tenancy laws and housing policy, and to ensure that tenants have access to legal information, advice and advocacy. A specialist community legal centre with its own legal practice in residential tenancies law, the Tenants’ Union is also the primary resource body for the State-wide network of local Tenants Advice and Advocacy Services.

As well as producing the Tenants’ Rights Manual (now in its 4th edition), the Tenants’ Union produces a newsletter, Tenant News, and a blog, The Brown Couch.
