Julia Quilter

Dr Julia Quilter is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law and a member of the Legal Intersections Research Centre at the University of Wollongong. She joined UOW in 2010 after over a decade practising as a solicitor and barrister primarily in criminal law including at the NSW Office of the Solicitor General and Crown Advocate and the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office. She brings a unique multi-disciplinary background in critical theory, gender, law and legal practice to her current research on criminal law and criminal justice policy. She has published widely on legal responses to alcohol-related violence (including ‘one punch’ laws), as well as on public order, sexual assault and bail reform.
