Dr John Anderson is an Associate Professor and Acting Dean of the Newcastle Law School at the University of Newcastle. A very experienced teacher in undergraduate and postgraduate law programs, Dr Anderson has co-ordinated and taught courses in Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, Advanced Criminal Law and Introduction to Advocacy. He is the recipient of a number of teaching awards, including a prestigious Australian Award for University Teaching, which was awarded by the Australian Learning & Teaching Council in 2010 for teaching excellence in ‘Law, Economics, Business and Related Studies’.
Dr Anderson’s research scholarship focuses on questions of unfairness and inequity in the criminal justice system, particularly the sentencing of offenders and treating like cases alike. He has published a number of peer-reviewed articles in leading journals relating to this and other research, including research about aspects of evidence law. He has also published a number of other books about evidence law and criminal law and procedure.
