Hy Bloom, BA, LLB, MD, FRCPC, is CEO of workplace.calm, inc., a workplace conflict, problem behaviour, and violence prevention and management group of multidisciplinary consultants, and a founding member of the Psilex Group, Consultants in Behavioural Sciences and the Law. He is a part-time staff member of the Law and Mental Health Program, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), in Toronto, an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto, an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at McMaster University, and adjunct faculty at the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto. Dr. Bloom was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1980. He is an alternate chairperson, legal member, and psychiatric member of both the Ontario and Nunavut review boards. He is also a member of the Mental Health and Law Advisory Committee of the Mental Health Commission of Canada. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He has co-authored and co-edited a number of books and manuals in the area of psychiatry and law.
