Barbara McDonald is a Professor of Law at the University of Sydney where she teaches Torts, Tort and Contracts II and Advanced Obligations and Remedies. She also has a continuing research interest in Media Law, particularly in relation to the developing law of privacy. She was recently appointed a Visiting Professor to the New College of the Humanities in London.
She is a consultant to a leading Australian law firm and has appeared in the High Court of Australia. She has also been a Visiting Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, teaching American tort law.
Barbara has written and spoken extensively on tort reform in Australia, including the impact of proportionate liability, and recently on international and comparative aspects of the law of privacy and defamation.
