Jamie Cassels
Jamie Cassels,Q.C., B.A., LL.B., LL.M. is the vice president academic and the provost at the University of Victoria. Professor Cassels was appointed to the Faculty of Law in 1981 and is the faculty's former dean. He is also a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. His areas of teaching and research include contracts, legal theory, remedies, environmental issues, and race and gender issues in the law of torts. He is the author of several books including The Uncertain Promise of Law: Lessons from Bhopal and Remedies: The Law of Damages. He has won numerous awards for his teaching and scholarship, including the Faculty of Law's Master Teacher Award, the University of Victoria Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Award, the Canadian Association of Law Teachers Award for Academic Excellence, and the national 3M Teaching Award.
