Hugh M. Kindred

Professor Kindred is a member of the Bars of England and Nova Scotia. He has been a Professor of Law at Dalhousie University since 1971, teaching in the areas of international law and trade, marine transportation, and commerical law. He is counsel to Patterson Palmer Law (Halifax Office) and from 1985 to 1986, he worked as a senior legal officer in the Shipping Division of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. From 1996 to 1997 and again in 2001, Professor Kindred was the Director of MELP at Dalhousie University, and in 1999 he was a visiting professor in Maritime Law at the University of Sydney, Australia. He has published numerous works in international, maritime, and commerical law and is the general editor of the widely-used volume International Law Chiefly as Interpreted and Applied in Canada.
