M. H. Ogilvie

M.H. Ogilvie is Professor of Law and Chancellor’s Professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, and a member of the Bars of Ontario and Nova Scotia. Dr. Ogilvie is a graduate of Trinity College, Toronto, the University of Oxford, and Dalhousie University, and has been a Visiting Scholar at the Universities of Edinburgh, Emory, Oxford, and Toronto, and at Princeton Theological Seminary. She was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1993; awarded the David W. Mundell Medal in 1996, the degree of D.D. (h.c.) by The Presbyterian College, Montreal, in 1998, the Law Society Medal in 2001, and the degree of LL.D. (h.c.) by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2008; and was the first Chancellor’s Professor appointed at Carleton University in 2002. She was inducted into the Order of Ontario in 2008. Dr. Ogilvie is the author of numerous articles on religious institutions law and has been cited frequently by Canadian appellate courts as a legal authority in the field. Dr. Ogilvie is also frequently consulted by a variety of religious institutions in Canada on legal matters.
