Hilary Charlesworth

Hilary Charlesworth is a professor in Regulatory Institutions Network (RegNet) in the Research School of Social Sciences and a professor in the College of Law at Australian National University (ANU). She is also director of the Centre for International Governance and Justice at ANU.

Hilary Charlesworth's interests are in international law and human rights law. Current research projects include the legitimacy of UN Security Council decisions, the impact of international law on Australian law, and the role of women in international dispute resolution. She was awarded an Australian Research Council Federation Fellowship in 2005.

She has worked with various non-governmental human rights organisations on ways to implement international human rights standards and was chair of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government's inquiry into an ACT bill of rights.
