Barbara Pocock
Professor Barbara Pocock is the director of the Centre for Work and Life at the Hawke Research Institute at the University of South Australia. Previously, she was the director of the Centre for Labour Research at Adelaide University, where she was a Research Fellow in social science and labour studies. She has worked in several industries and advised a range of governments and political parties. During 2001-2002 she was seconded to work for the former Leader of the Australian Democrats, Senator Natasha Stott Despoja, to advise on work, industrial, family, and women’s issues.Barbara Pocock’s publications include Demanding Skill: Women and technical education in Australia (1988) and Strife: sex and politics in Australia (1997) which she edited.
