Sandra Berns

Sandra Berns joined Griffith Law School in 1995 as Deputy Dean (Teaching and Learning) after serving as Associate Professor at the University of Tasmania. She served as Dean and Head of School from 1996-1999 and as Head of School in 2004. Her research interests include legal history, especially the history of the poor laws and the evolution of the welfare state; family law and parenting disputes; and gender issues. She is the author of three books, the co-author of a fourth, and has published numerous scholarly articles in the areas of legal theory, family law, and gender issues. Her current teaching interests include historical jurisprudence, family law, and civil obligations.
