John Goldring

John Goldring is a Judge of the District Court of New South Wales. His previous appointments have included full-time membership of the Law Reform Commission of New South Wales, Foundation Dean of Law and Professor of Law at the University of Wollongong, Professor and Head of the School of Law at Macquarie University, College Fellow in Law at the Canberra College of Advanced Education (now the University of Canberra), Reader in Law at the Australian National University, and Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Papua New Guinea.

He has practised law in Sydney, New York, Papua New Guinea, and the Australian Capital Territory. He has been a member of the Committee of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association, the Legal Practitioners’ Admission Board, and the Board of Governors of the College of Law in NSW, and he is currently a member of the Council of the national Judicial College of Australia, nominated to represent the District and County Court Judges.
