John Shields

John Shields teaches and researches human resource management in Work and Organisational Studies at the University of Sydney. He has a long association with the Australian Society for the Study of Labour History, and a number of collaborative research projects underway in this field, including a 2000-entry Biographical Register of the Australian Labour Movement, 1788-1975, and a history of the social relations of work in Broken Hill. Hohn has published a range of articles and book chapters on labour history themes, including regional industrial relations, peak unionism, payment systems, apprenticeship and working class oral history.
