Ian Thomas
Ian Thomas is Associate Professor of Environmental Policy at RMIT in Melbourne. He has worked as a civil engineer dealing with traffic and transportation planning, and has become increasingly involved in environmental policy and management. His research interests include the social approaches for environmental management, the role and effectiveness of environmental policy. A specific aspect of this research has resulted in his preparation of the book Environmental Impact Assessment In Australia: Theory and Practice (now in its fourth edition).Ian has extensive experience in the delivery of environmental education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, professionals, and the community. In related research Ian has investigated the status of tertiary environmental programs across Australia, looked at the employment of graduates from the environment program at RMIT, and recently surveyed Australian universities to gain an impression of the extent to which sustainability education was being conducted across the disciplines.
