Larissa Behrendt
Larissa Behrendt is Professor of Law and Indigenous Studies and Director of the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).Behrendt graduated from UNSW Law School in 1992 and has since completed her Master of Laws and Doctorate at Harvard Law School. As well as being a practising lawyer and lecturer, she has worked with the United Nations and is currently sitting on the Administrative Decisions Tribunal, the Serious Offenders Review Council, the AIATSIS Council, the UTS Council, and the NSW Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee.
She has published in the areas of property law, Indigenous rights, dispute resolution, and Aboriginal women’s issues. Her first novel, Home, published by University of Qld Press, won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize (2005), the award for the Best First Book in the South East Asia and South Pacific region, and the David Unaipon Award (2002).
