Charles Sampford
Charles Sampford became the Foundation Dean of Law at Griffith University in 1991. He later became Director of the Institute for Ethics, Governance and Law, which was incorporated into the Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance at Griffith University. He is also a Director of the International Institute for Public Ethics.Sampford's research interests include, applied ethics, constitutional law and theory, and legal education. He has authored or edited 14 books and over 60 articles in his fields of expertise. In 2000, he received a Fulbright Senior Harvard Fellowship to undertake research on global ethics.
In September 1998, Sampford went to Indonesia on a special mission for the World Bank to advise the Indonesian government on governance reforms to deal with corruption. Since early 2002, he has been a member of a task force on responding to threats to democracy chaired by Madeleine Albright.
