W.A.N. Wells
William Andrew Noye Wells attended Queen's College from 1927 to 1931 and was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship for 1940. After Oxford, and before his appointment to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1970, Andrew worked in the Crown Law Office, becoming Crown Solicitor, and then a QC in 1962. In 1969 he became the first Solicitor-General for South Australia. During this period, he played a critical role in the formulation and drafting of important legislation, such as the Local and District Criminal Courts Act, the Lands Acquisition Act and the Planning and Development Act 1966. At various times he lectured and examined at the University of Adelaide and was always very actively involved in Continuing Legal Education. He stepped down from the bench in 1984. Andrew was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1988. He passed away in November 2004.| Your shopping cart is empty. |
