Ed Ratushny awarded Walter Owen Book Prize

Professor Ed Ratushny has been awarded the 2011 Walter Owen Book Prize by the Foundation for Legal Research for his book The Conduct of Public Inquiries: Law, Policy and Practice. The Walter Owen Book Prize,  is awarded by the Foundation for Legal Research, and "is designed to recognize excellent legal writing and to reward outstanding new contributions to Canadian legal literature that enhance the quality of legal research in this country.” The Prize alternates between French and English each year.

The selection committee commented that the book "is a product incorporating prodigious research, insightful and empirical analysis, and persuasive  writing. ... [T]he book provides intriguing legal, social and political narrative commentary on context and functioning of many federal and provincial public inquiries.”

The award will be presented to Professor Ratushny at the Awards luncheon of the Canadian Bar Association Annual Meeting on Saturday, August 13 in Halifax.

In total, four Irwin Law books were short-listed for the prize. We would like to  congratulate the following authors whose work has also been recognized:
